
Dr. Anilkumar Latey has been a member of the Rotary Club of Poona Downtown for last 36 years and he also served as President of RCPD in 1997- 1998. Dr. Latey received his MS and Ph.D. degrees in Zoology from the University of Pune and Bombay, respectively. He served on the faculty as a lecturer and professor of zoology for 40 years at the University of Pune and retired in 2000. He taught several zoology courses to graduate and postgraduate level students and conducted research. He published five books and authored several research articles in zoological sciences and served as a mentor to MS and Ph.D. candidates. He was a visiting professor at the School of Life sciences, University of West Indies, Port of Spain in Trinidad under a Rotary Scholar Grant in 1999. Over the years as a rotary member, he has been involved in spearheading several projects and made several presentations to numerous clubs in India and many countries around the world. His wife ( Meena) is also a devoted member of the Rotary Club of Poona Downtown.
Richard focuses on estate planning, trusts and estate administration, and beneficiary and fiduciary representation. He is a member of the District of Columbia and Florida Bars, and a Fellow of the American College of Trust and Estate Counsel. Richard is a DC Super Lawyer®, has been named a Top Lawyer in Washingtonian’s biennial lists of 2015 and 2017, is ranked in the 2009-2017 ediƟons of The Best Lawyers® in America as a leading lawyer in the Trusts and Estates category, and rated AV® Preeminent™ by MarƟndale Hubbell. Richard will be speaking on the psychology of estate planning.
Batul (Bey) Salamaan Djawdan is the founder and, currently, the president of Arise & Flourish, a nonprofit organization in pursuit of Educating, Preventing and financially assisting those who want to be cured of the disease of addiction. She consistently has demonstrated a great interest in seeing that all the right steps are incorporate in establishing a useful avenue for the cause.
Bey has worked as a volunteer with a Child Abuse program in Baltimore, MD. She has worked with and trained families with abused children who were abused. As an educator, she also has thought Algebra and Geometry to middle school and high school kids at several educational institutions, including Motacel Catholic High school in Baltimore.
All through her career, Bey has supported many different organizations such as Doctors without Borders, Habitat for Humanity, and Central Asia Institute. Also, as an active member of Potomac Lions Club she, with the help of two other members, created a database for Elderly Support in Washington Metro area, both in English and in Farsi.
