We had a great turnout for the Park Potomac Ice Cream Social last Saturday. The event featured car show and benefits Interfaith Works programs. Thanks to John Waterston for furnishing the splendid table we used for display. Expect a report on the event from the participants (shown below). Not shown: organizers Samantha Crosby and Carmela Carr (photographer).
Our speaker was our own H. Ron Siegelman, newly retired and our current President. Ron used the opportunity to update us with a classification talk and a look at today’s printing industry.
Ron got started in printing at an early age…about 4th grade! His parents gave him a toy printing press, and he was on his way. He specialized in printing advertising and business cards for many small businesses. He worked for a variety of printing companies in Montgomery County, last at Printing Images in Rockville. His clients included many of the largest companies in the area, and he had a few amazing stories to tell. He talked about the many changes in the printing business over the years, from “hot metal” to quick printing to digital imaging. Current trends in the industry are leading to smaller print runs, more specialized products, and quicker turnarounds. Since his recent retirement, Ron is planning on new adventures with Rotary.
Our speaker was Ronnie Teitler Davis, Rotary District 7620 Membership and Engagement Chair 410-459-4632 . Here’s a message she wrote for the District 7620 newsletter: As we are coming into the dog days of summer, what are you doing to keep your membership cool? Is it time for a membership health check?
