Dr Leana S Wen – When doctors don’t listen…

Dr. Leana Wen is an attending physician and Director of Patient-Centered Care Research in the Dept of Emergency Medicine at George Washington University. Her book on patient empowerment, “When Doctors Don’t Listen: How to Avoid Misdiagnoses and Unnecessary Tests”, is critically acclaimed. She said that doctors are so busy that the patients have about 10 seconds to say what is wrong. Patients must speak up to avoid a misdiagnoses and unnecessary tests that can lead to unnecessary complications. Dr. Wen is a regular contributor to National Public Radio, Women’s Health Magazine, Psychology Today, and CNN.
