Derek Longbrake – Ending Homelessness in Montgomery County
Posted on September 18th
Montgomery County has 1100 homeless (159 families and 300 children). The Coalition has permanent housing for 400 households. Housing is the first priority. The leases have no time limit and are subsidized by Federal grants and private partnerships. The average rent is $1400 per month. After housing, services are provided for addiction needs and job counseling. The coalition serves 3 meals a day (hot and bagged meals) every day, to the 200+ men at their Home Builders Care Assessment Center men’s emergency shelter.
