Carol is a Ph.D candidate from China ForeignAffairs University. She is from SW China and studied American diplomacy and China – US relationships. She is a Fulbright scholar at George Washington University. Her English was very good. After living and traveling the US for 10 months, Carol has a new understanding of US culture and appreciates US “good values” such as our democracy, women’s equity, individualism vs collectivism, tolerance and diversity, transparency and religious freedom.
Edison for half of their school day and return for other courses at their neighborhood school. Students learn real world skills such as construction technologies, restaurant management, automotive trades, cosmetology and information technologies. All the programs have connections to STEM (science, technology, engineering and math). Students can leave the school with certifications, licensing and college credits. The students who attend are engaged, what to be there and have a certainty in their future career path. Melissa Dentch is the local campaign manager for “The Light the Night Walk”, a national fund raiser for the Leukemia and Lymphoma Society (LLS) which supports blood cancer research. Melissa showed a clip of girl near death who was given a research drug that attacked the cancer blood cells and resulted in total remission. More than 200 communities participate in the Light the Night Walk by forming teams of friends and families. The events start at 5PM.
